So you’ve booked your flights, checked your passport is in date and booked the kids into kids club. Now all you need to do is think about looking fabulous.

If your summer holiday is just around the corner and you want to look your best, then check out our guide to looking good on holiday. A plan of action to make sure your body, skin, hair and nails are primed and ready to glow.

4 – 6 Weeks To Go – Drop those Extra Pounds

If you’re carrying a few pounds more than you want and you’re worrying about your beach body, then now is a good time to take action, before it’s too late.

Realistically you could still lose a 1 stone or more if you have 4 – 6 weeks before you put your “out of office”on.

Will it be easy? No. Will it be worth it? Absolutely!

If you need to quickly drop some pounds, then focus on what you are eating. Weight loss is all about what you put in your mouth.

Our 10 quick wins for weight loss are simple:

  1. Cut out ALL sugar, refined carbohydrates and processed foods, bread, snacks, sugary drinks, fast foods, takeaways, chips, crisps, chocolates, pastries etc.
  2. Limit your fruit intake to 1 – 2 portions a day. Choose lower sugar fruits such as berries, apples and pears rather than high sugar bananas, grapes and mango.
  3. Limit caffeine intake to no more than 2 small caffeinated drinks a day. ie tea, coffee..
  4. Increase your water intake. Drink 2.5 – 3 litres every day.
  5. Increase your vegetable intake, have veg with every meal
  6. Reduce your portion size. Use a side plate instead of a dinner plate
  7. Cut out alcohol, or swap wine for gin / vodka with zero calorie diet mixers
  8. Have some protein with each meal to keep you fuller for longer
  9. Snack on healthy nuts and seeds – but watch your portion size
  10. Keep a food log using an app such as MyFitnessPal, to track your calories. Aim for less than 1400 cals each day

4 Weeks To Go – Exfoliate

Get your skin glowing by starting a regime of Dry Body Brushing every day before jumping in the shower and a Body Scrub once or twice a week. This can help to improve the appearance of cellulite. It really stimulates your system and will make your skin glow.

We love Coffee Scrubs with Salt and Almond oil. Its really easy to make them yourself. You can use ground coffee our to coffee maker.

Whilst caffeine isn’t great for your body when you drink it, applying Coffee to your skin can have a tightening and smoothing effect. Winner!

Slather on the moisturiser and get your skin soft and supple.

2 Weeks To Go – Build Up Your (fake) Tan

No we DON’T mean on sun beds!!

Give yourself a little faux glow before you hit the sunshine. A gradual tanning lotion builds up slowly and is perfect for a natural finish, so start now and build up your fake tan slowly over the next two weeks.

1 Week To Go – Focus on Hair and Face

Prep your skin with a pre holiday facial. This will ensure your pores are squeaky clean, dead skin is removed and your skin is hydrated and nourished. The perfect start to your holiday and will reduce holiday breakouts.

Get your locks in ship shape and book in with your hairdresser for a trim or even a treatment to help protect your hair and scalp from the sun. This will keep you hair in the best possible condition. We recommend buying sun protection for your hair too. Ask your stylist.

3 Days To Go – Waxing, Brows and Lashes

If you de-fuzz by waxing then now is the perfect time. Have your appointment a few days before you fly to allow any skin irritation to calm down. Avoid applying self-tanning creams for 24 hours post waxing.

3 days before jetting off is the best time to get your brows and lashes sorted too. It can take a few days for brows to calm down or tint colour to settle. You don’t want to look like you’ve got two big slugs for eyebrows as you hit the beach.

Whether you have falsies on your lashes or just a tint, now is the time to get your lashes sorted. If you want to your eyes to pop with out applying false lashes, we recommend trying the LVL Lash Lift treatment. This treatment enhances your own natural lash, making them look thicker and longer.

2 Days To Go – Mani and Pedi

Make sure your hands and toes are looking their best with a manicure and pedicure. Especially if you have kept your feet hidden away, they might need a BIG effort to get them looking respectable.

We recommend having Shellac or similar to keep your nails chip free and glossy for the duration of your holiday.

1 Day To Go – Tan and Skincare

If your are getting a spray tan, then todays the day to do it.

Make sure that you have packed all your skincare products and that you are not going to run out half way through your trip. Most importantly triple check you have packed your Sun Screen, sunglasses and a big hat to protect your face and scalp.
