Keep your skin glowing during Christmas
Christmas tends to be a time of year that involves overindulging in every way. Whether it’s food and alcohol, or parties and late nights. As most people take time off work and the kids have broken up from school, all of a sudden the regime and self-discipline that sometimes holds us together tends to go out the window.
This can all play havoc on your skin and leave it looking less than sparkly. Here’s some advice on how to keep your skin glowing during Christmas.
We’re not saying we aren’t all entitled to some fun and some excitement over the Christmas holidays. But if you want happy, healthy, glowing skin, a little restraint may be in order.
Don’t burn the candle at both ends!
Sleep is the time where our bodies go into repair and restoration mode. If you struggle to get the recommended seven to eight hours a night, this could put your natural repair process under stress. Which could prevent your skin from regenerating as well as it should.
Lack of sleep and late nights will cause your skin to become dull and dry looking, meaning you will need more attention to your skin during the day.
Boost your skin’s night time recovery cycle by applying a serum or a night cream that contains retinol. Retinol normalises the exfoliation process to improve skin texture and tone. This will help to keep your skin glowing even when you are tired.

Watch what you eat
Around the festive period we tend to see mince pies and goodies everywhere you look. Now, we aren’t saying don’t eat any of it (that would just be cruel) but just because they are there, doesn’t mean you have to eat it all.
Rosacea and Acne sufferers beware; sugar, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol and processed foods, tends to induce inflammatory responses within the body. This can cause Rosacea or Acne to flare up or break out, so be mindful of what you eat.
It is very important to remember to drink at least 2.5 litres of water a day to keep well hydrated. We are 70% water so its very important to drink plenty to stay on top form both physically and mentally. Especially after the dehydrating effects of all those mince pies and mulled wine.
Don’t forget you skincare regime
Hands up who’s guilty of going to sleep with their makeup on?
To achieve and maintain clear skin you need to be religious with your skin care regime. Yes we know is difficult when you’ve had late nights and too much to drink, BUT be mindful and try your very best to always take your makeup off last thing at night. Otherwise its “hello” crepey, flaky skin!
Christmas is the time of the year where many of us might be wearing more makeup than normal, or have more spray tans that can clog up your skin. So proper cleansing every day is essential. And no face wipes do not count! We always recommend a serum and a moisturiser before applying your daytime SPF, even in the winter!
