How to Treat Smokers Lines

Smoker’s Lines form over time and are caused by repetitive facial expressions and the natural ageing process. These dynamic lines run from the top lip towards the nose, starting off as fine lines which become deeper over time.

The mouth is a focal point on your face and the development of vertical lines can make you feel self-conscious about the way you look. Also known as ‘Lipstick Lines’, they can age the overall appearance of your face, even making makeup application of lipstick difficult as the colour can gather in the wrinkles.

Factors to consider

Factors to consider about the service Image

Smoking definitely speeds up the development of vertical lip lines, due by the repetitive action of sucking on the cigarette as well as smoking actively breaking down collagen and restricting blood and oxygen to the skin’s surface. Smoking is proven to be a key accelerator of the ageing process, so if you are a smoker and worried about premature ageing then you should definitely stop smoking.

However, Smoker’s Lines can easily appear in people who do not smoke. This can be particularly upsetting for people who develop vertical lines around the mouth that have never smoked. The vertical lines are caused by the natural ageing process as collagen and elastin decrease.

These lines can also be hereditary if your parents had vertical lip lines there’s a likelihood you will also develop them. And of course, actions such as drinking from a straw or bottle, pouting and playing musical instruments can promote their development.

If you are fed up of your Smokers Lines and are looking for a Non-Surgical solution to easing this concern, then check out the following treatments.

Treatments available for Smokers Lines

We offer two different aesthetic treatments to tackle the appearance of Smokers Lines.

Plasma BT

Plasma BT is a highly effective treatment for reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles by using Plasma energy. It works by zapping the skin with plasma energy. This sublimates excess tissue, helping to relieve the wrinkle. Plasma also remodels the collagen and regenerates the skin.

Microneedling is delivered using a pen-like device that creates tiny little micro-channels in the skin. This kick starts the healing process and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Helping to plump the skin and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What our customers say

I had been looking at ways to get rid of my smoker’s lines and wrinkles around my eyes. I came across the Plasma Pen treatment and The Body Clinic and decided to go and see them.

I had a consultation with Charlotte, she was really friendly and helpful. She told me how the treatment worked and what to expect. She said there is a few days recovery time so I decided to have a few things treated at the same time.

I had the Plasma Pen treatment on my top lip for the smoker’s lines, crows feet around wrinkles around my eyes, and I also had my upper eyelids treated to regt rid of the hooding which was making me took tired.

The treatment wasn’t painful and it was quite quick, considering I had quite a bit treated. The longest bit was waiting for the numbing cream to start working which was about 20 minutes.

I had a bit of swelling for a couple of days after the treatment and it took about 5 or 6 days for the brown dots to drop off.

I am really pleased with the results. It has really smoothed out the skin on my top lip and it’s definitely improved the wrinkles. They are barely visible now! I don’t think I look as tired anymore and some of my friends have noticed too.
