As a skincare specialist, I’ve helped lots of women and men to get clearer, healthier and more youthful-looking skin.

In this blog post, I’ll share with you my all-time favourite homemade face mask recipes.

The best bit? They are made entirely from natural ingredients that you can find in your kitchen!

The Best Homemade Face Mask For Dry Skin

Dry skin on your face can be a real pain. Your skin might look dull, flaky and unhealthy – and finding a foundation that works can be near impossible!

There are lots of causes of dry skin, from ageing and hormonal changes, dehydration and poor-quality skin products to changes in temperature and skin conditions, like eczema.

Treatments such as Enzyme Peels and our ProFacial are great ways to solve this problem, but homemade treatments such as face masks can help too.

These refreshing, homemade face mask recipes can help exfoliate your skin, remove dead, flaking skin cells and replenish the lost moisture, giving your complexion a healthy, hydrated glow.

The Avocado & Yoghurt Refresher

1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 Tablespoon honey

Mix the yoghurt, olive oil and honey together in a bowl.
Slice the avocado in half, remove the stone and scoop the flesh into the yoghurt mixture.
Mash and mix until smooth.
Apply to your face immediately, leave for 15-20 minutes before washing with warm water.

1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon turmeric powder

Peel a banana and cut it into slices.
Place in a bowl and mash until smooth.
Add the baking soda and turmeric powder and mix well.

The Oatmeal Acne-Buster

The Oatmeal Acne-Buster is ideal for people with both problems – oily and dry skin! The acid in the lemon juice helps to remove excess oil AND exfoliate the dry, dead skin cells, while the oatmeal soothes and calms your skin and reduces redness.

What You’ll Need:

1/2 Cup cooked oatmeal, cooled
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon lemon juice

Cook your oatmeal – using water, not milk!
Leave to cool until room temperature.
Crack an egg into a cup and whisk until the yolk and white are combined.
Add the egg and lemon juice to your oatmeal and mix well.
Apply lavishly to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes.
Rinse well using warm water.

The Best Anti-Ageing Homemade Face Mask

Taking good care of your skin can help reduce the signs of ageing and keep you looking younger.

Now, I’ll be honest – a homemade face mask won’t give you huge anti-ageing results, but it can help give you a mild, temporary lift and encourage rejuvenation – giving you a firmer, more youthful appearance. But if you’re looking for more noticeable or long-lasting effects then you might benefit more from one of our non-surgical anti-ageing treatments such as Microneedling, or HIFU.

Skin-Tightening Charcoal Facial

This skin-tightening facial uses egg whites to temporarily firm sagging skin while helping to shrink large pores. The charcoal helps to draw out and detox any oils or dirt that may have built up in your skin, while the lemon juice gives a mild exfoliating effect.

What You’ll Need:

1 Egg white
1-2 Activated charcoal capsules
1/4 Teaspoon lemon juice

Crack the egg white into a bowl and beat with a fork until fluffy.
Add the charcoal and lemon juice and mix well until combined.
Apply a thick layer of the paste to your face and leave for 10 minutes.
Remove with warm water.

WARNING: Charcoal can stain fabrics to be sure to use your scruffy towels to protect your clothes!

The Best Exfoliating Homemade Face Mask

Dead skill cells can make your skin look dry and dull and clog up your pores causing blackheads and acne. This homemade facial recipe will help gently exfoliate your skin, removing the dead skin cells and encouraging the production of healthy, fresher-looking cells.

The Soft & Smooth – Charcoal & Yogurt

The lactic acid in the yoghurt in this face mask gently dissolves the layers of dead skin cells on your face. Combined with the charcoal, which draws out the oils and dirt that’s clogging up your pores, it’s a powerful recipe that gives you healthy, glowing skin.

What You’ll Need:

2 Tablespoons of full fat, plain Greek yoghurt
1-2 Activated charcoal capsules
1-2 Teaspoons of honey

Add the yoghurt, honey and charcoal to a bowl and mix together until you get a creamy paste.
Apply to your face and neck generously.
Leave for 15- 20 minutes before washing with warm water.
Apply moisturiser.
