The nights are starting to close in, and meteorological autumn began on Sunday. With the darker nights, often comes ‘the munchies’…
Our TV viewing increases and out comes the bag of crisps, the bars of chocolate and a couple of glasses of wine to wash it all down.
But with only 16 weeks until Christmas, maybe you need to start to consider what you will be wearing at the Christmas parties and how you will fit into your LBD!!!
Too much sugar in your diet makes you feel lethargic, often bloated and can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and so much more.
Did you know it can also be responsible for accelerating the ageing process?
Avoiding sugar is pretty difficult. It is in almost EVERYTHING` that we eat – chocolate, alcoholic drinks, crisps, soft drinks, cakes…
But sugar is also abundant in many foods that we ‘THINK’ are healthy:
- Breakfast cereals
- Fruit juice
- Dried fruit
- Sauces – ketchup, BBQ sauce, salad dressings
Food companies are really clever in how they list sugar in food ingredients too. They ‘hide’ the total amount of sugar by listing them under different names:
- Corn syrup
- Agave nectar
- Fruit juice concentrate
- Blackstrap molasses
How shocking is that??
But how does sugar actually accelerate ageing?
Wrinkles are just part of growing older but in reality, we all WANT To look as young as possible.
Excess sugar directly affects your skin by a process called Glycation. Glycation damages collagen and elastin – both of which keep your skin firm.
When we eat a diet high in sugar the glucose reacts with proteins in our body and toxic molecules called ‘advanced glycation endproducts’ (AGE’s) are produced. AGE’s has been found to have a direct link to the ageing process.
Remember that Christmas is only 16 weeks away! And you WILL want to look your best.
