Beat the January Blues

Now that the Christmas period is over and everyone is back at work we tend to see a lot of clients suffering from the ‘January Blues’.

Over the winter months we tend to lack motivation, the cold, dark nights make us want to comfort eat and snuggle down on the sofa with a hot drink and go into hibernation mode. So finding the motivation to work out, eat clean and keep fit in the winter is extremely difficult.

In the winter we are in so much need of an energy boost and a mood lifter that we normally get from the “Sunshine Vitamin”, Vitamin D.  So we have put together a few simple tips to help you all tackle the dreaded January blues.

Find a gym buddy

Motivating yourself to go to the gym after a busy day at work is tough. By finding yourself a gym or exercise buddy you can motivate each other and it becomes a lot easier. You are more likely to stick to your work out sessions as you wont want to let your partner down by being a “no show”.

Finding the right gym buddy for you is important, you need to find someone that loves the same types of exercise and work outs as you at times that suits you. Going to the gym with a friend makes the gym a fun place to go, a place to catch up and have a giggle whilst working up a sweat.

Comfort eating is NOT the answer, what you need is a dose of B vitamins to boost serotonin levels and Omega 3 fatty acids such as Flaxseed oil, Chia seeds, walnuts, salmon or spinach to lift you out of the January Blues.

Or if you are wanting to lose weight and feel better about your body then we can help you lose weight quickly and safely with The Cambridge Weight Plan. You get FREE one-to-one support each week to keep you motivated, as well as great tasting meal replacement products.
